Updates are as follows:

1) A GUI interface has been included as Ver1.1 (Beta). Filename MAP950PROGUI.EXE

The GUI version of this software requires the use of the MAP950PRO.DLL and this DLL file must reside in the same folder as the EXE program.

2) WINDRVR.SYS updated to support Win2K SP3.

To update your existing version of WINDRVR.SYS, copy the new 5.05b version of this driver into your:

[Windows installation directory]\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS

folder to overwrite the old revision. This may be accomplished by booting into Win2k in SAFE MODE to perform the upgrade.

Device Driver Installation to Modify Serial Port Clock Rate on the Axxon MAP/950 Pro Serial Card
Rev 1.0

Introduction : Most current Windows operating systems (XP, NT, 2000) are protected operating systems that DO NOT permit direct low level h/w access.

Therefore we have provided a generic device driver (WINDRVR.SYS) to grant permission from the operating system to allow for h/w access.

You must first install the WINDRVR.SYS program using WDREG.EXE program.

Please note that this device driver is NOT related to the Oxford serial port device driver that you may already have installed into your PC.

Help may be obtained by running:

WDREG <ENTER>

Here are the steps to install the generic device driver:

1. Copy VxD or SYS files to the target computer.

For Windows 98/Me/NT/2000/XP: Copy WINDRVR.SYS file to [Windows installation directory]\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS

For Windows 98/Me/2000/XP: Copy WDPNP.SYS to [Windows installation directory]\SYSTEM32\DRIVERS

For Windows 95: Copy WINDRVR.VXD file to [Windows installation directory]\SYSTEM\VMM32
NOTE: WINDRVR.SYS can be used on 98/Me. Due to the limitations of 98/Me, it cannot be loaded dynamically but requires a reboot. If a reboot is not acceptable to you, then use WINDRVR.VXD instead.

2. Add WinDriver to the list of Device Drivers Windows loads on boot.

For Windows 98/Me, WDREG.EXE install installs WINDRVR.SYS and requires a reboot. For a reboot free installation on Windows 98/Me, please install WINDRVR.VXD instead and use the command WDREG -vxd install to install it.

WDREG INSTALL <ENTER>

should be sufficient to install the WINDRVR.SYS into your operating system.

Once the device driver is installed, then you may run the provided EXE programs. We recommend that you reboot your PC after installing the device driver.

3. Run axxon952_diag.EXE to debug the Axxon MAP/950 Pro h/w.

4. Run map950pro.exe to alter the clock values for the UART.

You may alter the EEPROM to provide:

CLOCK / 1 upon each power up ; Useful for Linux installations
CLOCK / 2 upon each power up
CLOCK / 4 upon each power up
CLOCK / 8 upon each power up

The factory default is CLOCK / 8 where CLOCK = 14.7456 Mhz, therefore the
UART clock is 1.8432 Mhz. This value is industry standard for the PC serial
port.

Note : If map950pro.exe is UNABLE to locate the MAP/950 Pro I/O card then you must run 9346.EXE program to re-program the factory default parameters into the onboard EEPROM.

Also included in the DRIVER.ZIP file is the AXXON952_DIAG.EXE utility. This program may be ran in any Windows operating system to access the low level UART registers found in the Oxford OX16PCI952 device. A handy tool for debugging your application!
